2017 Show News
December 2017 The Show sponsors a tree at the St. Mary's Christmas Tree Festival.
The committee thanks those members and the "willing volunteer" who came up with the ideas and decorated the tree. Images of the show Christmas Tree can be found in the "Trees" section of the gallery page.
14th November 2017 The Show AGM was held at St. Mary's Church.
Our President, Dr Gibberd, welcomed everyone to the meeting. He thanked the Committee for their hard work which had resulted in a successful Show. The Chairman, Chris Beadle, has served his three year term so stands down from the post. The committee is very pleased that he has agreed to continue to serve as committee member.
Mrs Judith Dixon-Patterson was elected as Chairman and Mrs Linda Frawley was elected as Vice-Chairman. All other officers and committee members were re-elected into their previous roles. A full list of committee members can be found on the Committee page.
October 2017 The Gallery page has been updated with a selection of photos from the 2017 show. The gallery is made up of a random selection of photos of exhibits in each of the different sections - we hope you can spot yours in one of the photos.
The committee was extremely pleased to see that entry numbers were up significantly on 2016 - thanks to everyone who took the effort to enter. There were also 30 new entrants or returning entrants who had not exhibited in the last couple of years and, as mentioned below, some of the new entrants not only won prizes for the classes that they entered but also won a major award.
The biggest percentage increase was in the children's section which was great to see - hopefully some of them will be winners of adult classes and awards in years to come.
The committee will be meeting again in the winter and early spring to create the 2018 schedule. As in previous years, we'll look to replace some of the less popular classes with new classes in the hope that this will attract more entries, but many of the "old favourites" will be left well alone!

Sunday 10th September 2017 Thanks to everyone who exhibited and those that attended the show.
The committee was pleased to see several new entrants and a significant increase to the total number of entries. Like last year, some of the new entrants not only won prizes for the classes that they entered but also won a major award.

August 2017 - Update to tips on exhibiting vegetables The guide to exbibiting vegables on the advice page has been updated to include a paragraph on exhibiting radishes - one of the new classes that has been added to this year's schedule.
June 2017 - Carnival Day Thanks to everyone who visited our stall at this year's carnival. It was a very warm afternoon and whilst we may not have had the attraction of the beer tent, we were pleased to welcome the visitors who came to buy plants or have a go on the tombola.
March 2017 - The 2017 schedule is now available As mentioned on the home page, the 2017 schedule has now been published. Paper copy will be available from the usual outlets, and is available for download by clicking here .
Don't forget, we have opened up the show to a wide range of entrants. The year, entries are welcome from entrants who meet one (or more) of the following criteria:- Resident in the Parish of Old Basing & Lychpit, or
- in permanent education or employment in the Parish of Old Basing & Lychpit, or
- have a resident parent, partner’s parent or grandparent in the Parish of Old Basing & Lychpit
